Rejection is Redirection

The Power of Buzzwords

Buzzwords are a form of mental prompts that empower you to look to yourself for answers and propel you to action in a positive and proactive way. This month I bring you another new buzzword.  May it inspire you with the knowledge that you can change the direction of your thinking and what might seem like a negative can be turned into a positive.

This month’s buzzword is:

Rejection is Redirection

When I first met artist Lisa Palmer, she was ecstatic with the news she had just sold her very first piece of art to a production company that would be featuring it in an upcoming movie. It was an amazing (and timely) opportunity to witness the joy and celebration that comes with the realization that someone else is touched by your creative work.

It was sometime later when my husband and I went to her art show to view her magnificent collection. Lisa’s artwork is powerful with its vibrant colours and thought-provoking imagery. In discussing her artwork, it was evident she had a passion for artistic expression, which she wanted to share with others. She told us that her journey to share her work had been challenging as she discovered it was difficult to open doors to the traditional art world. We learned she would have none of this rejection. Lisa explained that she turned a negative into a positive by calling upon words she had heard before—rejection is redirection. In doing so, she redirected her energy to produce her own Lisa Palmer Art Show featuring all her wonderful artwork, and her desire to share with others was achieved!

As soon as Lisa said the words “Rejection is Redirection,” I was inspired, and I knew that it would become my newest buzzword. I too was finding rejection in my life and needed to redirect my energy. This buzzword is important as many of us can feel rejection in different areas of our life; be it a floundering relationship, a job where one feels undervalued, or a project that is not acknowledged or celebrated. Be empowered by this buzzword “Rejection is Redirection” and use it to redirect your time, energy, and passion in a new direction to achieve your goals.
